The two countries have good relations in the fields of culture and science and the most prominent of which is mutual scholarships between the two parties. The number of Sudanese students studying in Turkiye within the scholarship program or at private expense is more than 4 thousand students; this number is expected to increase, especially since Turkiye is distinguished by its academic excellence and good experience in the field of education and technology, ithas become a favorite destination for students and those wishing to learn science in various fields. Also hundreds of Turkish students study religious sciences and Islamic studies beside Arabic language in many Sudanese universities.
Turkiye has doubled the number of scholarships granted to students from Sudan to reach 144 scholarships for the academic year 2018-2019 undergraduate and postgraduate instead of 74 scholarships provided for the year 2017, and the number of scholarships offered in the year 2020-2021 reached 130 scholarships; since it was reduced due to the circumstances of the outbreak of Covid – 19 pandemic.
The Council of Sudanese-Turkish Universities continues to hold its meetings that discuss the exchange of experiences and scholarships between the two sides. Also A branch of the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Institute was established in Khartoum in September of 2016. The institute aims to spread culture and teach the Turkish language, which is witnessing a high demand from Sudanese students.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan and the Ministry of Industry signed a memorandum of understanding with the Supreme Council of Higher Education in Turkiye that includes strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the field of transferring advanced technology. An executive program with a specific timetable was also signed with the Turkish Tubitac Institute of Technology and the Ministry of Higher Education.
