Press statement
The Government of Sudan condemns in the strongest terms the international silence toward the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its so-called “Tasis” authority in the regions of Darfur and Kordofan. These crimes are being committed using weapons and equipments that cannot be obtained except through end-user certificates.
The violation of the United Nations Security Council resolution imposing an arms embargo on Darfur places the credibility of the Security Council at stake. Likewise, failure to address the sources of these weapons, the financing entities, and the states that supply and facilitate their delivery into the hands of criminals casts a serious doubt on the credibility of the international community and its relevant mechanisms.
The Government of Sudan will not accept tutelage, nor will it accept that partners of those who commit crimes, or those who remain silent in the face of their commission, be partners in any efforts to end the war. The Government of Sudan affirms its determination to end this war and to halt the destruction of the state and the starvation of the people, not through the imposition of solutions from outside, but through dismantling the sources, mechanisms, and means of committing these crimes, holding the perpetrators accountable, and holding accountable those who violate Security Council resolutions and international humanitarian law.
The Government of Sudan expresses its appreciation to the fraternal and friendly countries that support the security and unity of Sudan, the safety of its people, and the unity of its institutions. It calls upon the international and regional community to fulfil its required role in confronting those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur, Kordofan, and the rest of Sudan.
