Press statement
The Government of Sudan has decided to extend the opening of the Adré crossing on the Sudanese–Chadian border for the passage of humanitarian aid organized by international relief agencies, effective from 1 September 2025 until 31 December 2025. This decision reaffirms the commitment of the Sudanese Government to ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need all over the country, and reflects its goodwill in facilitating humanitarian operations and coordinating with relief organizations working in the country, in accordance with the regulations and the provisions of international humanitarian law.
The Government of Sudan further notes that the extension of the opening of the Adré crossing coincides with the tragedy of the village of Tarsin in Jebel Marra, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent citizens. While mourning the victims, the Government of Sudan calls upon brotherly and friendly states, as well as humanitarian organizations, to urgently provide the necessary assistance to the affected citizens, and to take advantage of the extended opening of the Adré crossing to intensify efforts to meet urgent needs in the area, in coordination with the relevant government authorities.
