Press Statement

The Government of the Republic of the Sudan welcomes the statement issued by the Executive Secretariat of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), which expressed deep concern and unequivocal condemnation of the illegitimate declaration by the RSF militia and its civilian affiliate, “Ta’sis,” concerning the establishment of a so-called “parallel government” in Sudan.

The statement firmly rejected this unilateral and illegitimate move, highlighting the threat it poses to Sudan’s sovereignty and national unity. It emphasized the importance of supporting the country’s legitimate institutions to ensure a peaceful and democratic transition, and it called on the international community to provide robust support to the Government of Sudan in its quest for lasting peace and stability. The Secretariat further welcomed the concrete steps taken by the Sudanese government toward forming a civilian government as a foundation for peace, security, and long-term stability.

The Government of Sudan reiterates its readiness to cooperate with all regional and international organizations that uphold and respect the legitimacy of Sudan’s constitutional institutions. It also renews its call on all States, regional and international entities, and stakeholders to reject the unlawful declaration and refrain from engaging with or recognizing the RSF militia or its affiliates, and to fully respect Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
