Press Statement
The Government of the Republic of the Sudan welcomes the statement issued by the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, which expressed an unambiguous condemnation and categorical rejection of the illegitimate declaration by the RSF militia and the so-called “Ta’sis” alliance regarding the establishment of a “parallel government” in Sudan.
The Council’s statement reaffirmed the African Union’s firm commitment to the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Sudan. It called on all AU member states and the International Community to reject any attempts to fragment the Sudanese State and to withhold recognition or support for the so-called “parallel government.” Furthermore, the Peace and Security Council reiterated that the African Union recognizes only the Transitional Sovereignty Council and the newly formed Civilian Transitional Government as the legitimate authorities in Sudan.
The Government of Sudan encourages all states and regional and international organizations to adopt similar positions grounded in international legality. It also commends the constructive engagement of the African Union and expresses its aspiration to further strengthen its partnership with the continental body. In this context, the Government renews its call for the full reinstatement of Sudan’s participation in African Union activities in support of the country’s political transition, democratic transformation, and peace-building efforts.
