Yesterday, the RSF terrorist militia attacked the Merowe Dam power station, the largest electricity generation facility in the country, using suicide drones, which resulted in a widespread power outage affecting large parts of the country.
This crime is a clear act of terrorism and a war crime in its full form, confirming that the militia primarily aims to destroy the national state, its infrastructure, and its essential institutions, including services, education, culture, and its historical memory, as part of a genocidal plan carried out with the assistance of its regional sponsors. The impact of targeting electricity services is undeniable, as it severely disrupts the lives of citizens and impedes vital services such as water, health, education, and livelihoods.
This attack coincides with the new massacre carried out by the militia in the Zamzam camp the day before yesterday, which claimed the lives of 16 displaced persons, as well as the massacre in the village of Umm Malihah in the rural area of Al-Hasahisa, where 11 civilians were killed.
We call on the international community to condemn these heinous crimes and to exert real pressure on the RSF terrorist militia’s sponsors to stop supplying it with weapons and mercenaries, enabling it to continue its genocidal agenda.
