The Republic of Sudan

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Office of Spokesperson and Media Directorate

Press Statement

The Government of Sudan is closely following the suffering of the Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad, especially in the Adre region, due to the cessation of humanitarian aid to them 3 months ago.

The Government notes that the Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries receive little international attention and megre humanitarian aid. The same applies to about 11 million IDPs in the safe states in Sudan despite the dire need, especially after the heavy rains and floods that various regions of the country were exposed to.

In spite of the unjustified clamor by certain circles about opening border crossings to bring in aid, with the suspicious focus on the Adre crossing while ignoring all open crossings with neighboring countries, these circles are neglecting the needs of Sudanese refugees inside Chad.

The Government of Sudan, while renewing its rejection of politicizing humanitarian work, calls on the international community to provide urgent assistance to all those in need, including IDPS and refugees in neighboring countries as well as those affected by torrents and rains.
